Holbox - Mexico

Holbox, Mexico was one of our favorite trips of the last years. This is a hidden gem where the gulf of Mexico meets the Caribbean Sea. We spent our babymoon in 2015 here, and we definitly will come back as soon as we can ... We opted for renting a car and drive about 2 hours from Cancun. You will need to take a ferry from Chiquila - safe parking is available at low cost there. Alternatively you can take a small prop flight from Cancun.

No cars are allowed on Holbox - instead of paved roads you will find sand alleys on this protected natural reserve. Pets are welcome here and part of everyday life - People are extremely relaxed and friendly except when it comes to protecting their beloved island paradise.

You will be able to enjoy great food & delicious drinks here with a spectacular view of pristine beaches and wildlife ... sounds too good to be true, right? Trust me it's there.. Tips ... Take a bike and ride along the beaches bays at sunset - don't forget your mosquito repellent. Rent a golf cart to take a comfy drive around the island Where to stay ??

Best time to visit ... May, or in the beginning of September will allow you to beat the crowds...
